ISE 5340 - Work Design Design of work systems and measurement of work. Topics include job methods, operation analysis, charting techniques, stop-watch time study, work sampling, predetermined time systems, standard data, incentive wage systems, and learning curves. Students are also introduced to ergonomics considerations in the design of manual operations.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 2 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Apply a predetermined time system to determine a standard time.
- Balance operations to form efficient workstations.
- Calculate the learning curve for a task.
- Design a manual workstation.
- Design an efficient sequence of operations.
- Design and perform a time study.
- Design and perform a work sampling study.
- Determine appropriate work allowances.
- Develop and interpret appropriate charts for analysis of operations and processes.
- Develop time standards from the results of a time study.
- Identify basic ergonomic concerns in designing a manual work area.
