ME 7330 - Numerical Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Numerical solution techniques in heat transfer and fluid flow and related processes. Includes governing conservation equations, discretization methods, analysis of heat conduction, convection, diffusion, and flow field.
Requisites: ME 5130 and 5460 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Ability to formulate governing equations for modeling heat transfer and fluid flow.
- Ability to numerically solve multidimensional problems by explicit and implicit methods.
- Ability to solve convection and diffusion problems for a known flow field.
- Ability to solve the non-linear flow field using implicit algorithms.
- Ability to use discretization methods for numerical solution.
- Ability to use special approaches such as upwind method, pressure correction and under-relaxation to aid convergence to a solution.
