ME 7450 - Advanced Topics in Numerical Methods Application of numerical methods for solving ordinary and partial differential equations and eigenvalue problems. Emphasis on problems in thermal and mechanical systems. Finite difference and finite element methods.
Requisites: CHE 6100 or MATH 5600 or ME 6970 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. - Ability to solve eigenvalue problems using power method and inverse power method.
- Ability to solve ordinary differential equation by Runge-Kutta and multipoint methods.
- Ability to solve partial differential equations by finite difference and finite element methods.
