EXPH 6180 - Clinical Exercise Physiology: A Case-Based Approach This course provides an overview of the pathophysiology, disease management, and recommendations for exercise testing and prescription for typically-encountered clinical disease states in an exercise setting. The course emphasizes a case-study approach with cases derived from the clinic(s) where students perform their practical experience.
Requisites: EXPH 6170 and 6920 concurrent Credit Hours: 2 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 seminar Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Create an exercise testing protocol for various clinical conditions.
- Create clinical (SOAP) notes including subjective and objective data, an assessment, and plan for clinical cases encountered.
- Create individualized exercise program based on clinical assessment and exercise test results for any given client.
- Explain common medications encountered in a clinical exercise setting and effects on exercise.
- Explain how the exercise programs created will benefit the clinical conditions for which each is created.
- Explain the pathophysiology of various clinical conditions.
- Explain the risks involved with exercise programs created for various clinical conditions.
- Explain the risks involved with exercise testing for various clinical conditions.
