FAR 5100 - Introduction to Arts Administration This course explores non-profit arts institutions, how they are organized, and how they are managed. Areas covered include mission, strategy, marketing, programming, fundraising, community engagement, arts law and how each of these components interacts with the artistic program of an arts organization. Students consider a wide range of career opportunities for arts administrators and discuss current issues in the arts industry.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 seminar Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to discuss the basic component of arts organizations
- Students will be able to analyze the structure and practices of an arts organization
- Students will be able to discuss the components of a fundraising strategy for an arts organization
- Students will be able to present a programming strategy for an arts organization
- Students will be able to identify the basic elements of artists’ contracts
- Students will be able to articulate the role of arts organizations in the community
