MGT 5024 - Purchasing and Supply Management Efficient and effective sourcing and procurement of raw materials and services is key to the performance of an organization. Success in a competitive business environment requires that organizations think strategically about their supply base. This course covers the procurement cycle: analyzing organizational needs, identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, negotiating a contract, and measuring and managing supplier performance. Students who complete this course will have an opportunity to learn about and apply concepts and tools of supply management.
Requisites: Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May not be retaken. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Student will be able to identify and describe how Purchasing supports and implements the organization’s strategy.
- Student will be able to define terms commonly used in the field of Purchasing and Supply Management.
- Student will be able to perform an assessment of needs.
- Student will be able to explain how quality, quantity, delivery, price, and service criteria apply to both supplier selection and supplier management.
- Student will be able to evaluate the performance of suppliers.
- Student will be able to analyze and explain the impacts of globalization on Supply Management.
