BIOS 4240 - Virology Intended to familiarize students with the principles of virology and focuses on human and animal viruses. Emphasis is placed on the molecular events following virus-cell interaction, which are critical to viral replication and pathology. Topics also include viral evolution, novel infectious agents, use of viruses for gene therapy, and modern methods of studying viruses.
Requisites: C- or better in (BIOS 3100 and 3200) Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will appreciate the roles that viruses play in human health and biotechnology.
