ENG 3340 - Israeli Literature Israel is a young country whose writers have inherited an old, complex history. We will study the role of memory, ethics, the diaspora, and aesthetics in Israeli literature.
Requisites: ENG 2010 or 2020 or 250 or 2 courses above ENG 200 or (Jr or Sr) Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Analyze the complexity of Israeli literature with regard to issues of race, class, and gender.
- Introduce students to significant Israeli writers and theorists.
- Understand how history, memory, ethics, the diaspora, and aesthetics function in Israeli literature.
