ENG 4500 - Postcolonial and Transnational Literature Critical approaches to postcolonial and/or transnational literatures from around the globe, especially Africa, South Asia, the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe
Requisites: (ENG 2010 or 2020) and 1 course above ENG 3000 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Familiarity with selected major literary texts, theoretical approaches, and specific historical contexts.
- Study of relevant issues: colonization, decolonization, neo-colonialism, border-crossings, as well as issues surrounding exiles, migrants, refugees, immigrants.
- Understanding of postcolonial and transnational literatures in relation to studies of race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, histories of imperialism.
