HLTH 2901 - Health Aspects of Aging Theories of aging involving changes in structure and performance. Emphasis on normal aging changes, mental changes, mental health, health promotion, and community health.
Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will demonstrate and describe how wellness among the elderly is important to their overall well-being.
- Students will demonstrate knowledge about aging and what physiological effects are considered normal.
- Students will demonstrate knowledge about how chronic health conditions affect activities of daily living.
- Students will demonstrate knowledge of factors which promote wellness and longevity in the elderly, with particular emphasis upon gender and ethnic differences.
- Students will describe major aging processes in older populations, noting differences according to age, gender, ethnicity and socio-economic background.
- Students will describe the complexity of issues facing the elderly as they age and how these issues impact their ability to cope.
