THAR 2110 - Acting I Beginning of a foundational and sequential course of actor training. Focus will be on the authentic use of self, explored through exercises and scene work. Students will be conditioned to listen and respond, work spontaneously, develop a point of view, and to act by doing.
Requisites: BFA Acting major Credit Hours: 3 - 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 6.0 studio Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Create specific and imaginary ‘as if’s’ vital to scene work.
- Dedicate ample time to preparation for rehearsal and performance without compromising academic work.
- Demonstrate enhanced expressivity and temperament.
- Develop and demonstrate a strong personal point of view as it applies to the given circumstances.
- Exhibit a quantifiable ability to listen and respond within structured improvisation and scene work.
- Identify and pursue tangible objectives.
