EQU 2074 - Equine Veterinary Technology Equine veterinary technical skills that allows students to be a strong contributor to a large animal health care team. Geared towards student that wants to work at an equine veterinary practice.
Requisites: EQU 1010 and 1020 and 2071 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture, 2.0 laboratory Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Provide students with adequate experience in physical examinations and venipuncture of horses.
- To be acquainted with radiographic techniques used in both a mobile and hospital setting.
- To be acquainted with surgical and medical techniques used in the modern equine veterinary practice, such as IV catheter placements, blood draws, and client communication skills.
- To familiarize students with laboratory testing, such as fecal examinations and blood testing.
