TAS 4040 - Ethics and Organizational Social Responsibility


The globalization of organizations along with greater advances in technology increases the complexity of ethical decision making. Every organization has the potential to impact society (positive or negative). This interface between organizations and society is the concern of organizational social responsibility (OSR). The purpose of this course is to explore the dynamics of this interface. The review provides the student with an opportunity to explore the positive and negative impacts these organizations have on our society and identify strategies to implement OSR.

Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Analyze the complex issues confronting leaders.
  • Demonstrate a multi-stakeholder perspective in viewing organizational social responsibility issues.
  • Identify and describe the key concepts related to organizational social responsibility.
  • Incorporate organizational social responsibility concepts in developing an OSR project for an organization (real or made up).
