GEOG 4799 - Foundations for Capstone Research in Geography This course provides an introduction to research design and methodology in geography. The course emphasizes the development of a research project from its earliest stages through the identification of emerging research foci within geography’s sub-fields. Students interact independently with faculty to define a research focus for the capstone project, which they undertake the semester following the completion of this course in GEOG 4800: Capstone Experience in Geography
Requisites: GEOG major and Jr or Sr Credit Hours: 1 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 1.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: F,CR,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to identify emerging research themes in at least one sub-field of geography
- Students will be able to evaluate new directions in research relative to students’ academic and professional interests
- Students will be able to design a research project
- Students will be able to create a research project prospectus
