HIST 3141 - History of American Radicalism: From the Populists to Occupy Wall Street This course examines the history of American radicalism, from the Populists and Socialists of late nineteenth century to Occupy Wall Street activism of the 2000s.
Requisites: Soph or Jr or Sr Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to identify and analyze major events and figures in the history of American Radicalism.
- Students will be able to identify different political visions of radicals (Populism, Socialism, Communism, etc.) and put these in historical context.
- Students will be able to explain the relationship between radicalism and violence in American history.
- Students will be able to relate the history of American radicalism to their contemporary world.
