Program Overview

The B.S. degree program in environmental chemistry is chosen by students planning to enter a graduate program in chemistry with an emphasis in the environment or work in a chemistry related field. The B.S. degree is accredited by the American Chemical Society.
 

Admissions Information

Freshman/First-Year Admission

No requirements beyond University admission requirements.

Change to Program Policy

Students wishing to change or add a chemistry major or minor at Ohio University should go to the Undergraduate Student Services Office in the College of Arts and Sciences located on the first floor of Wilson Hall (Main Green).

External Transfer Admission

No requirements beyond University admission requirements.
 

Opportunities Upon Graduation

A large number of our graduates go on to take advanced degrees in all ares of chemistry and biochemistry. Graduates of our programs are employed in environmental, pharmaceutical and other chemical companies throughout the country. Jobs held by recent graduates include applications lab technician, attorney, associate chemist, auditor, chemist, research and discovery chemist, chemistry and physics teacher, criminalist, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, drug analyst, environmental engineer, pharmacist, physician, QA process chemist, and technology transfer manager.

Upon completing the requirements for the B.S. degree with a major in chemistry, you are eligible for professional status in the American Chemical Society. Completion of a B.A.degree in chemistry does not qualify you for certification.

Chemistry Materials Fee


All chemistry laboratory courses have a consumable materials fee. In addition, students must purchase a $20 breakage card from the Office of the Bursar, the unused portion of which will be refunded.
