Program Overview

Students who love Latin and continue to the third or fourth year of the language, can easily add a Latin major. It complements majors in history, English, philosophy, and political science.

Opportunities Upon Graduation

A Latin minor can provide graduates with the tools to analyze language, write more precisely in English, and apply skills in research, analysis and critical thinking, and familiarity with humanities to many jobs. For programs in education, archeology, ancient and medieval history, philosophy, law and theology, an advanced knowledge of Latin is extremely useful.
 

Requirements

Minor Hours Requirement


The Latin minor requires a minimum of 16 hours. You will need to have completed Latin through 2120, or the equivalent as determined by placement exam, as the prerequisite to the upper level Latin language courses.
