Program Overview
The dance history and theory minor focuses on the growing field of dance studies that uses a dance-based theoretical perspective and other movement practices to analyze within larger cultural contexts. This minor integrates theory and practice as a means of heightening scholarly inquiry.
Admissions Information
Freshman/First-Year Admission
To become a minor in dance history and theory you must have sophomore standing, a 3.0 GPA in your major discipline or field of study and meet with an academic advisor in the School of Dance. No audition is required.
Change of Program Policy
Upon admission to the minor in dance history and theory appropriate forms must be completed by the student in the School of Dance office or the College of Fine Arts office.
External Transfer Admission
No requirements beyond University admission requirements and requirements stated above.
Opportunities Upon Graduation
This concentrated study helps prepare students with a specialized dance emphasis for employment or graduate study in the arts administration, dance ethnology, journalism or criticism, and dance in film or video.
