Program Overview

The purpose of the war and peace certificate is to education students in security studies from an interdisciplinary perspective. There has been a recent and dramatic spike in the demand for students trained in security studies. The creation of the Department of Homeland Security, new emphases on improved intelligence analysis and risk assessments, border control, immigration, heightened proliferation threats in Iran, North Korea, and other countries around the globe, increased attention and hiring in the areas of counter terrorism and counterinsurgency, as well as reconstruction and development in countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan, culminate in demand for students well trained in war and peace studies.

Opportunities Upon Graduation

War and peace certificate students are well equipped for careers with non-governmental and governmental organizations, multinational corporations, and think tanks, as well as to pursue graduate degrees in related fields.

Certificate Hours Requirement


The war and peace certificate program requires a minimum of 21 hours and maintaining a 2.5 or higher GPA in certificate courses.
