Program Overview
To attract, develop and mentor high-potential undergraduate students who possess excellent skills in their chosen field and want to develop cutting-edge leadership potential. The primary focus of the program is to promote student development of core leadership skills needed to work effectively on project teams, succeed in complex assignments, and meet strategic objectives.

Freshman/First-Year Admission
No requirements beyond University admission requirements.
Change of Major/Minor/Certificate Policy
Criteria for admission into the Strategic Leadership Business Certificate program include: 1) Submission to the Management Department office of a completed application form; 2) Submission to the Management Department office of a copy of the applicant’s most recent DARS report indicating an overall G.P.A. of 2.75 or higher; 3) Submission to the Management Department office of the applicant’s resume demonstrating the characteristics that support the students interest in leadership, for example, an above-average GPA, strong work ethic, previous leadership experience or courses involving organizational or leadership competencies, prior work and leadership positions, etc.; 4) Completion by the applicant of a panel interview, if requested, with strategic leadership faculty and at least one member of the Walter Strategic Leadership Center Advisory Board. Further, applicants demonstrating past leadership experience, either paid or unpaid, are preferred. Application forms may be picked up from the Management Department office. Admission to the certificate program is expected to be competitive. Members of groups historically underrepresented in business will receive special consideration.
External Transfer Admission
The same criteria for admission apply to transfer students.
Opportunities Upon Graduation
Students completing this certificate will go into the discipline of their choice but will be prepared with the requisite strategic leadership skills that organizations are increasingly desiring.
