Program Overview
The Restaurant, Hotel, and Tourism major seeks students who have an interest in a career of supervision and management within the restaurant, hotel, and tourism industries. With instruction in the areas of food and beverage, lodging, and meeting and event planning, students are prepared for employment in restaurants, private clubs, hotels, resorts and tourism management. With a holistic approach, the addition of a built-in Business minor affords students both the depth and breadth of knowledge and skills in managing and operating a business, enhancing and increasing the students’ marketability and ultimately positioning them to be successful in their chosen careers.
In addition to the program’s required field experience, it is highly recommended that students be employed part time in the industry, as this has proven to be beneficial during their college careers, as well as after graduation. Opportunities for full- and part-time employment are available on and offcampus.
