Program Overview:  Designed for mid-career professionals who already have professional expertise in at least one media area, MFA students select two additional areas of media in which to develop new expertise. Students also choose a cognate area outside of production that contextualizes their production areas.

This program is jointly administered by the School of Media Arts and Studies and the School of Visual communication, focusing on multidisciplinary, creative projects and project-based research. By exploring media production within content-specific areas, our students learn how to communicate as a leading-edge media professional. The program is also offered in collaboration with the College of Fine Arts and the School of Art + Design.

Opportunities for Graduates:  The program expects students to return to the media industry with a new creative skill set and a richer portfolio, or to enter academia as a professor of media arts and visual communication.
