Criteria for admission into the Human Resource Management Certificate program include:

  1. Submission to the Management Department office of a completed application form - the application for the certificate is online;
  2. Submission to the Management Department office of a copy of the applicant’s most recent DARS report indicating an overall G.P.A. of 2.75 or higher;
  3. The Human Resource Management Certificate program will admit students up to its enrollment ceiling, and students judged to have the highest probability of success will be admitted. Members of groups historically underrepresented in business will receive special consideration. See the Certificate Director for further information.

Each semester, those accepted into the Human Resource Management Certificate program will have their progress tracked by DARS. An overall G.P.A. of 2.5 in certificate courses is required. The Human Resource Management Certificate will be awarded only to students who have been accepted into the program and who have fulfilled all certificate requirements. Students will need to consult the Management Department office before the deadline for graduation to ensure that all requirements have been fulfilled and the certificate will be awarded.

External Transfer Admission

No requirements beyond University admission requirements. Once students are admitted to the University they would follow the same admissions criteria as internal students.

Opportunities Upon Graduation

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that Human Resource Specialist positions are projected to grow ten percent between the years 2020-2030 with a median salary of $62,290 for workers with a business degree. Interested students within the College of Business pursuing the management major can deepen their career preparation by pursuing the field of Human Resource Management through the certificate, while non-business students can build a complimentary skill set that will be portable into their chosen field or occupation.
