Program Overview

The English minor offers students an overview of the history, conventions, and practices of literature and rhetoric in English, while allowing them to experience a diversity of texts through electives of their choice. The emphasis on critical thinking and analytical writing makes the English minor valuable for students who are pursuing majors in a variety of disciplines, including the fine arts, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Students in the English minor program also have the opportunity to develop their skills as writers of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction prose.
