Program Overview

The Master of Science in Management is the business degree of choice for the increasingly competitive marketplace where the future of leadership lies in a focus on management strategy. This flexible, customizable degree provides students with the flexibility to add credentials in key knowledge areas like Business Analytics, Sales, Finance, Human Resource Management, Operations and Supply Chain. Students choose to add value in the areas most critical to their employers and future talent portfolios. Through experiential learning and personalized executive mentorship, it equips graduates with the key knowledge, skills resulting in three complete certificate credentials and a future oriented business degree. The rich cultivated capstone experience allows for a transformative experience that enhances professional growth and practical real-world experience positioning oneself for rapid career growth and employability.

This is a part-time program that may be completed in as few as 12 months.

Students admitted to this program will also complete three graduate certificates. Students begin by completing:

CTMLCG  – Management & Leadership Certificate 

Students then choose to complete two other certificates. Some of which include:

  • CTBVCG  – Certificate in Business Venturing
  • CTOAMG  – Certificate in Operations & Supply Chain Management 
  • CTHRMG  – Certificate in Human Resource Management 
  • CTBACG  – Certificate in Business Analytics 
  • CTPMCG  – Certificate in Project Management

Program Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to:

  1. Analyze performance in organizations relevant to managerial theories.
  2. Apply managerial knowledge to decision-making in organizations.
  3. Apply theories of organizations to be able to make reccommendations on organizational effectiveness.

This business degree cultivates strategic managers and leaders to anticipate, plan, manage and lead organizations to success. Students are adept at understanding themselves, organizations, data, and people, to build strategic teams to the next level, future oriented success. Graduates learn independent skillsets such as data analytics, critical thinking, and strategy development while expanding their network and career potential to enter or move to a more strategic position within their organization.

Admission Requirements

  • Online application
  • US bachelor’s degree or equivalent, accredited institution, 3.0 GPA or greater
  • Official transcripts from all degree-granting institutions at bachelor’s level or higher and for all graduate coursework
  • For students with a GPA below 3.0 from their undergraduate degree, a statement of explanation addressing your academic performance from your undergraduate degree. The statement should be no longer than one page.
  • Resume
  • Recommendation Letter from Supervisor or Athletic Coach
  • 2 years’ experience preferred
  • TOEFL or IELTS if non-native English speaker

College of Business Graduate Academic Credit Transfer Policy

Students may request transfer of credit from an accredited university within the limits of the Ohio University Graduate Catalog. Graduate credits from AACSB accredited business school or college may be applied toward a College of Business graduate program under the following conditions:

  1. A maximum of six credit hours toward a graduate degree program may be applied.
  2. A maximum of three credit hours toward a graduate certificate may be applied.
  3. Approval of transfer credit is granted by the Department Chair of the academic discipline in which credit is being requested. Course credit must be:
  4. Earned through an AACSB-accredited business school,
  5. Designated as graduate credit at the institution where taken,
  6. Letter graded B or better,
  7. Earned within the pasts five years,
  8. Applicable toward a graduate degree at the institution where taken, and
  9. Earned in courses taught by members of that institution’s graduate faculty.

Students must provide the following information to the Graduate College during the admissions process for graduate course credits to be evaluated for transfer credit:

  1. Official Transcript
  2. Syllabus from course(s) to be evaluated for transfer credit, from the term the course was completed
  3. COB Graduate Transfer Credit Form

International Students

This program does not permit full-time enrollment in residence at Ohio University, and an I-20 cannot be issued based on admission to this program.

Graduation Requirements

Complete a minimum of 33 hours with no grade below a C. The Management and Leadership Certificate and the capstone experience are required; students must also complete two of the elective certificates listed.

Culminating Experience


The culminating experience, undertaken during the capstone sequence, allows students to apply learning from the program to organizational issues. Students draw on final projects from each of their certificates and then use these to create their own experience as they interconnect learning from unique certificate knowledge path they have chosen and apply it to organizational issues.
