ITS 3100 - Internet Applications and Network Systems Students explore modern internet applications with an emphasis on designing, deploying, and managing layered internet applications. Students learn to develop system requirements based on the analysis of user needs and also examine the deployment and management of common internet systems such as office collaboration tools, streaming systems, and identity management infrastructure.
Requisites: C or better in (ITS 2140 and ITS 2300) and C or better in (CS 2300 or CS 2400 or CTCH 1330 or ET 2100 or ITS 2801) Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture, 2.0 laboratory Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to analyze the capabilities of various operating systems and their suitability to modern use cases.
- Students will be able to apply and manage common operating systems.
- Students will be able to explain and analyze Internet transport protocols.
- Students will be able to apply network discovery tools to find and identify systems and services running within a network.
- Students will be able to compare the functionality of various service models involved in the deployment of IT applications.
- Students will be able to deploy a stack of services that enable web-based applications.
- Students will be able to use Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to interconnect applications.
- Students will be able to explain the capabilities of VoIP, office collaboration tools, streaming systems, and associated data formats.
- Students will be able to discuss and analyze the needs of IT service users and apply technologies needed to serve those needs.
- Students will be able to discuss and apply the key components and functions of Identity management and authentication infrastructure.
- Students will be able discuss and analyze the operational security involved in the operation of modern IT applications.
