Horizontal and vertical curves, geometric design of highways, and earth-work distribution.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to construct roadway cross-sections.
  • Students will be able to determine horizontal sight distance and horizontal curve alignment.
  • Students will be able to determine vertical sight distance and vertical curve alignment.
  • Students will be able to identify elements of roadway design.
  • Students will be able to perform basic intersection and interchange designs.
  • Students will be introduced to basics of pavement structural design.
  • Students will be introduced to basics of roadway drainage design.
  • Students will understand the super-elevation theory.
