CE 3300 - Structural Theory I Determinacy requirements, analysis of statically determinate structures; influence lines, deflections, and introduction to analysis of statically indeterminate structures.
Requisites: (CE 2010 or concurrent) and (C or better in ET 2220) Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will apply the method of virtual work to determine deflections of a truss structure.
- Students will be able to analyze truss structures using different methods.
- Students will be able to construct shear-moment diagrams for beam problems.
- Students will be able to determine support reactions for different support types.
- Students will be able to draw influence lines.
- Students will be able to recognize indeterminate cases and solve structural problems.
- Students will be introduced to moment distribution method.
- Students will know how to compute beam deflections using methods ranging from direct integration method to moment area method to virtual work.
- Students will understand how load transfers from one member to another.
