CE 3800 - Civil Engineering Materials Engineering properties of materials used in civil engineering applications including metals, concrete, timber, and composites.
Requisites: ET 2220 Credit Hours: 4 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture, 2.0 laboratory Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will gain an understanding of failure theory.
- Students will learn basics of composite material types, properties, and applications.
- Students will learn engineering properties and applications of aggregate materials.
- Students will learn engineering properties and use of metal alloys.
- Students will learn engineering properties of timber and issues related to this material.
- Students will learn how to conduct laboratory tests to measure important properties of various engineering materials.
- Students will learn how to deal with engineering materials commonly used in civil engineering construction work.
- Students will learn how to design asphalt concrete mixture.
- Students will learn how to design concrete mixture.
- Students will understand engineering properties and behavior of hardened concrete material.
- Students will understand engineering properties of asphalt as functions of time and temperature.
