CE 4380 - Prestressed Concrete Design Theory of prestressing. Design and analysis of prestressed concrete beams, slabs, box girders, and bridge girders by elastic and ultimate strength methods.
Requisites: CE 3300 and CE 4320 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to determine deflections of prestressed concrete beams.
- Students will be introduced to computer analysis & design procedure for prestresses concrete slabs and girders.
- Students will be introduced to prestressed concrete bridge design.
- Students will learn about pre-tensioned, post-tensioned, codes, and PCI guidelines.
- Students will learn about prestress losses.
- Students will learn composite section design.
- Students will review information on concrete and prestressing steel.
- Students will understand flexural analysis & design, shear design, torsion design, service stresses, and ultimate strength design method.
