CLWR 4710 - African Religions Surveys the broad array of religious systems and practices that have emerged historically in the African continent. Topics range from Vodun to Zar, Pentecostalism to Islam, as well as practices specific to particular ethnic groups.
Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Compare and contrast the key practices and institutions of at least four different religions practiced on the African continent.
- Discuss the development of different traditions both on the continent and in the African diaspora (Haiti, Brazil, US, etc.)
