DANC 4800 - Senior Capstone Prepares students for the field of dance and related careers. Skills in writing, networking, and oral presentation, as well as the ability to access available resources, are refined. Includes choreography, performance, and production aspects of senior projects and other dance events.
Requisites: DANC 3231 and Sr only Credit Hours: 3 General Education Code: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be repeated for a maximum of 6.0 hours. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 seminar, 2.0 studio, 2.0 laboratory Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Choreograph and produce a solo and a group work demonstrating a more sophisticated grasp of choreographic, performance, and production concepts than at the time of their entrance into our program.
- Create a sample project for presentation folio.
- Define personal/professional goals.
- Develop basic written materials for future use in marketing (resumes, personal statement, etc.).
- Identify skill sets and experiences for resume and other marketing materials.
- Research and determine specific components of and steps necessary for goals.
- Select and/or plan support materials for final folio (videos, etc.).
- Students will demonstrate ability to constructively evaluate/assess their own and others’ choreography and performance.
- Students will demonstrate ability to effectively communicate their artistic aesthetic, process, research, and creative methods through speech and writing.
- Students will learn the skills necessary to produce a concert, including publicity and advertising, organizational skills, and cooperative work habits.
