ME 4130 - Conduction, Convection, and Radiation Advanced analytical treatment of conduction, convection, and radiation. Boundary value problems, boundary layer theory, radiation network matrix analysis.
Requisites: ME 3122 and (MATH 4600 or ME 4970) Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. - Develop governing equations for modeling thermal energy transport.
- Solve multi-dimensional, steady state, and transient conduction problems.
- Use boundary layer approximation to find convection heat transfer.
- Use matrix method for solving radiation exchange among black and gray surfaces.
- Use non-dimensional numbers in conduction and convection problems.
- Use shape factor for calculating diffuse radiation exchange between surfaces.
