MUS 1630 - Introduction to Music Education Introduces the prospective music educator to the profession of teaching music in the public schools.
Requisites: Music major Credit Hours: 2 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to discuss (with confidence) the process of teaching.
- Students will be able to discuss (with confidence) the reasons for music teaching in public schools.
- Students will have a working knowledge of the vocabulary used by the musician/educator.
- Students will have begun the process of understanding themselves as learner/teacher.
- Students will understand the importance of professional development for the musician/educator.
