NURS 2210 - Adult Health III: ADN


The focus of this third medical-surgical course is to address content of immunology, infectious disease, men/women’s health, nervous system, musculoskeletonal system, and end of life issues. Develop and implement care plans using the nursing process and evidence-based practice guidelines.

Requisites: BIOS 2010 and NURS 2120 and 2130 and (EDEC 1600 or PSY 2410) and (NURS 2220 concurrent)
Credit Hours: 5
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 lecture, 2.0 clinical
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • Apply knowledge of disease process when providing palliative care interventions.
  • Apply nursing principles of practice to provide care that promotes and supports the emotional well being of the client experiencing an acute or chronic illness related to systems studies this semester.
  • Discuss provision of care for clients in the administration of medications and parenteral therapies.
  • Provide care that considers age related physiological changes.
  • Recognize and provide appropriate nursing care for clients with problems related to the immune system, neurological, and musculoskeletonal systems.
  • Recognize the pathophysiology related to disorders of the systems studied this semester.
  • Utilize appropriate infection control precautions when caring for the immuno-compromised client.
  • Utilize critical thinking to discuss the chronically ill client’s right to refuse treatments and procedures.
  • Utilize critical thinking when addressing actions of prescribed pharmacology agents.
