CHEM 4805 - Advanced Organic Synthesis: Reactions and Mechanisms This course will provide an overview of modern organic synthesis. This course is designed for the advanced undergraduate or beginning graduate student who desires a deeper understanding of organic synthesis as initially presented in the typical undergraduate organic course.
Requisites: C+ or better in CHEM 3060 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Proficient in using reaction mechanisms to determine reaction products.
- Understand advanced functional group transformations.
- Understand the relationships between molecular shape and reactivity.
- Use online databases and searching tools to identify useful reactions.
