Program Overview

The writing certificate is a flexible certificate that students can tailor to support their individual writing goals. In Core Courses, students build upon Ohio University’s BRICKS writing curriculum by engaging with new writing genres and rhetorical situations that are common beyond the university. Core Courses also allow students to work with talented peers and begin aligning their writing expertise to personal and professional goals. Students then complement the Core Courses with writing-focused Elective Courses in their majors or area of interest in order to strengthen their ability to write in their fields. This certificate offers students of all majors (except English) the opportunity to demonstrate their writing expertise through a credential on their transcripts.

Students must earn a B (3.0) or better in each of the courses that count toward the writing certificate.
