Program Overview

The minor in stage management introduces the student to the craft of stage management and develops techniques in personnel management and leadership. Through both classroom learning and hands-on experience with stage managing a show in the School of Theater, students develop skills in collaboration, communication, process and leadership.

Freshman/First-Year Admission

No requirements beyond University admission requirements.

Change of Program Policy

Admission Requirements: The School of Theater accepts all students who are accepted by Ohio University Standards. Admissions process: Student must interview with Head of BFA Stage Management in the School of Theater to be admitted to the minor.

External Transfer Admission

No requirements beyond University admission requirements.

Opportunities Upon Graduation

Students will have acquired the skills necessary to stage manage a professional production. Training and experience in stage management offers students skills necessary in a variety of careers in the entertainment industry. The collaborative, organizational and management skills that students learn in stage management transfer to positions in film, television, industrial trade shows, and event management.

Minor Hours Requirement


The stage management minor requires a minimum of 21 hours. A grade of C (2.0) or better is required in each course.
