Program Overview

Students interested in expanding their career options in hospitality and tourism, or looking to advance in their current jobs and desiring to secure better opportunities in the field would consider this flexible, online program. This opportunity provides students the flexibility to navigate their program with work and personal obligations. Advantages associated with the online program include the opportunity to study from home, lower costs and flexible schedules. For instance, individuals with 9-to-5 jobs can complete assignments in the evening or on weekends. In addition, students taking online courses also develop valuable professional competencies, such as virtual networking and technology skills. The faculty are leading scholars, teachers, and industry professionals who have innumerable global education and global applied experiences in the hospitality and tourism field. The program’s real-world curriculum provides you with an opportunity to examine the various facets of the hospitality and tourism industry. With a cutting-edge curriculum, you will develop the leadership and analytical skills needed to advance your career.

Program Standards

To remain active in this program you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Maintain overall GPA of 2.0 (C) or better in all hours attempted at Ohio University.
  2. Earn at least a 2.0 (C) or better in each course listed under Major Requirements.
  3. Successfully earn at least a C (2.0) in all required HM courses by the end of the third enrollment in each course. Other schools and departments may also limit the number of times you may retake a course.

No requirements beyond University admission requirements. To obtain the documents necessary to change your major or externally transfer into the program you will need to speak with an eCampus Advisor based on students last name at the following link here.

Opportunities Upon Graduation

The Hospitality Management program offers academic preparation with an experiential foundation for graduates seeking careers in different sectors of the hospitality and tourism industry including event management, food and beverage services, lodging, private clubs, theme parks, resorts and tourism management or continuing with master’s studies.
