Certificate Overview

The graduate-level Sport Analytics certificate program is specifically tailored to meet the advanced needs of graduate students looking to enhance their expertise in the dynamic field of sports analytics. Work with data from sport teams to develop insights and hone technical skills. This program, offered by the Department of Sports Administration at Ohio University, is designed to provide graduate students with cutting-edge skills and in-depth knowledge required for successful sports analytics implementation (both on the field and off).

Certificate Outcomes

Upon certificate completion, students will be able to:

  1. Develop techniques for sport data wrangling, enabling the collection, cleaning, and preparation of diverse sports data sources for analysis.
  2. Design contemporary sport data analyses to develop insights from diverse sets of sport data sources.
  3. Evaluate the skills to craft compelling narratives and insights from sports data, utilizing advanced sport data storytelling techniques to engage and inform technical and nontechnical audiences effectively.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited university
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Official transcript(s)
  • Current resume
  • No GRE or GMAT scores required

College of Business Graduate Academic Credit Transfer Policy

Students may request transfer of credit from an accredited university within the limits of the Ohio University Graduate Catalog. Graduate credits from AACSB accredited business school or college may be applied toward a College of Business graduate program under the following conditions:

  1. A maximum of six credit hours toward a graduate degree program may be applied.
  2. A maximum of three credit hours toward a graduate certificate may be applied.
  3. Approval of transfer credit is granted by the Department Chair of the academic discipline in which credit is being requested. Course credit must be:
  4. Earned through an AACSB-accredited business school,
  5. Designated as graduate credit at the institution where taken,
  6. Letter graded B or better,
  7. Earned within the pasts five years,
  8. Applicable toward a graduate degree at the institution where taken, and
  9. Earned in courses taught by members of that institution’s graduate faculty.

Students must provide the following information to the Graduate College during the admissions process for graduate course credits to be evaluated for transfer credit:

  1. Official Transcript
  2. Syllabus from course(s) to be evaluated for transfer credit, from the term the course was completed
  3. COB Graduate Transfer Credit Form

International Students

This certificate program does not permit full-time enrollment in residence at Ohio University, and an I-20 cannot be issued based on admission to this program.

Completion Requirements

Admitted students will need to earn a C or better in all of the certificate courses. And, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to be awarded the certificate. Students will complete a minimum of 15 credit hours as follows:
