EE 4313 - Optoelectronics and Photonics Introduction to fundamentals of the light propagation in solid media, passive devices like waveguides and optical fiber. Introduction to important modern active optoelectronic devices. Emphasizes basic physical theory needed to understand LEDs, laser diodes, photodetectors, photovoltaics and their construction and applications.
Requisites: EE 321 or 3223 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to describe contemporary issues in photonics and optoelectronics.
- Students will be able to explain fundamentals of basic passive and active photonic and optoelectronic devices and their characteristics.
- Students will be able to explain how to describe and derive fundamental parameters of passive and active photonic and optoelectronic devices.
