ART 3950 - Passion Works Studio


This class places students in a semester-long community arts residency facilitated by Passion Works Studio, an Athens arts center devoted to creating developmentally integrated communities at local, regional, and national scales. Students work within Passion Works Studio’s community network, and alongside its resident artists, in the creation of public artworks, product lines, exhibitions, festivals, and placemaking activities. Emphasis is on student learning and participating in place-based, collaborative practices while becoming aware of and advocating for disability culture.

Credit Hours: 4
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 4.0 studio, 2.0 lecture
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to integrate an understanding and advocacy of disability culture within place-based, collaborative arts projects.
  • Students will be able to understand and facilitate creative collaborations in their community, country, and/or the world.
  • Students will be able to demonstrate awareness of the citizen artists role in an evolving, interactive world of individual rights, governmental responsibilities, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
