ENG 3620 - Creative Writing: Poetry

Beginning course in writing poetry with emphasis on invention, craft, and criticism of student writing and published poetry.

Requisites: ENG 2010 or 2020 or 2530 or 2540
Credit Hours: 3
Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts.
Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture
Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I
Learning Outcomes:
  • Students will be able to employ poetic techniques and strategies in the composition of original verse.
  • Students will be able to constructively critique the writing of others.
  • Students will be able to recognize and define important elements of poetic form and structure.
