ISE 4350 - Database Information Systems Introduction to application and development of database systems in industrial engineering. In addition, students will learn database theory, data modeling and SQL.
Requisites: ISE 2100 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to develop a conceptual data model using Entity Relationship (ER) and Enhanced Entity Relationship (EER) models and determine appropriate structural constraints.
- Students will be able to convert an ER/EER model to a relational model and normalize it to the 3rd normal form.
- Students will be able to develop SQL queries to create tables, determine data types, and constraints on tables.
- Students will be able to develop SQL queries to retrieve, filter, and sort data.
- Students will be able to use advanced SQL features such as pattern matching, aggregate functions, join queries, and window functions to analyze the data.
