MUS 3640 - Secondary School Choral Techniques and Materials Literature and rehearsal techniques for secondary school choirs, including administration of the high school choral music program. Application of principles of typical child development through field experiences in the secondary music classroom.
Requisites: Jr standing in Music Education Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to demonstrate standard choral rehearsal techniques.
- Students will be able to implement standards of high school choral program administration.
- Students will be able to identify and the standard current high school level repertoire for choirs.
- Students will be able to describe what an optimal learning environment entails in the secondary music classroom, including effective bookkeeping management strategies.
- Students will be able to develop tools to help students maximize learning in the secondary music classroom.
- Students will be able to identify instructional strategies that promote student learning through field experiences in the secondary music classroom.
