MUS 3771 - Jazz Improvisation II Learning and applying through improvisation the whole tone, diminished and blues scales, the Aeolian and Location modes, the ii-V7-I progression, and culminating with final project utilizing blues form.
Requisites: C or better in MUS 1020 Credit Hours: 1 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 2.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will demonstrate facility in improvising the blues using the above harmonic/melodic vocabulary.
- Students will know all modes and be able to play them with facility in all transpositions.
- Students will know and be able to play a variety of blues-derived forms.
- Students will know whole tone, diminished, and blues scales in all transpositions and be able to play them with facility.
