PBIO 4941 - Undergraduate Research/Written Presentation An independent research experience that includes a formal written presentation of the work. All work is done under the supervision of a faculty member.
Requisites: PBIO 4940 and 30 hours cumulative in BIOS, CHEM, GEOG, GEOL, & PBIO and Sr and permission required Credit Hours: 3 OHIO BRICKS Bridge: Learning and Doing, Capstone: Capstone or Culminating Experience General Education Code (students who entered prior to Fall 2021-22): 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 8.0 research Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to critically evaluate data from the primary research literature.
- Students will be able to use the scientific method to create independent hypotheses.
- Students will be able to design their own original experiments to test hypotheses.
- Students will be able to use scientifically valid techniques in their fields to collect and analyze data.
- Students will be able to produce written documents using appropriate technologies for biological research.
- Students will be able to synthesize and integrate original experimental data with that from the literature.
