PETE 2401 - Foundations of Sport and Games in Physical Education II Sport and games are a primary instructional component of physical education programs. Introduces and provides instruction in a variety of sport skills.
Requisites: B or better in PETE 1260 or C or better in PETE 2020 Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 1.0 lecture, 4.0 laboratory Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Demonstrate and explain basic concepts of variety of indoor games such as cooperative games, games to build toward fitness, games that combine and coordinate multiple game strategies(assessed by skills test & game play test).
- Demonstrate and explain essentials of badminton: Stance, footwork, strokes including clears smashes, blocks. Learn and demonstrate strategies of singles and doubles and how to keep score during game play (assessed by skills test & game play test).
- Demonstrate and explain floor hockey skills: Forehand and backhand passes, drive and flick passes or shots, and fielding/receiving (assessed by skills test & game play test).
- Demonstrate and explain speedminton and pickle-ball skills: Drive serve and lob serve, basic strategies in doubles play, and how to keep score. Demonstrating an understanding of basic rules during game play.(Assessed by skills test & game play test).
- Demonstrate and explain volleyball skills including underhand and overhand pass, spiking, serving, blocking. Applying game strategies for receiving serve, and how to keep score in a game situation (assessed by skills test & game play test).
