RHT 3410 - Principles of Tourism Exploration of major concepts in tourism, what makes tourism possible, and how tourism is or can become an important economic influence on a region, state, or country.
Requisites: Soph or Jr or Sr Credit Hours: 3 Repeat/Retake Information: May be retaken two times excluding withdrawals, but only last course taken counts. Lecture/Lab Hours: 3.0 lecture Grades: Eligible Grades: A-F,WP,WF,WN,FN,AU,I Learning Outcomes: - Students will be able to analyze the internal and external factors that affect tourists’ behavior.
- Students will be able to define the terminology appropriate to the travel and tourism industry.
- Students will be able to articulate the economic, cultural, and environmental impacts of tourism on both the host and world communities.
- Students will be able to describe the components of the travel and tourism system.
- Students will be able to identify the factors that influence the supply and demand of travel and tourism opportunities.
- Students will be able to explain the role of tourism as a vehicle for understanding different cultures and values of places.
- Students will be able to discuss the roles of state, national, and international professional associations, government agencies, trade and professional literature in tourism.
- Students will be able to interpret the global changes and technology which impact the tourism industry.
