The School of Rehabilitation and Communication Sciences is dedicated to excellence in preparing future health care providers in the fields of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant practice. We are committed to contributing to the body of knowledge through the research efforts of faculty and students in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant practice. Students will graduate with the knowledge, behavior, and skills required to function within the diverse roles of the contemporary health care environment.
The School of Rehabilitation and Communication Sciences (RCS) is composed of the Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), the Division of Physical Therapy (PT) and the Division of Physician Assistant Practice (PA). Graduate programs are offered in PT, CSD and PA and more information can be found in the graduate catalog. The School is dedicated to excellence in research and education of undergraduate and graduate students who will be successful for future academic study and employment.
The School’s faculty and staff are committed to personalized mentoring of students at all levels, and to integrating academic learning with pre-clinical and clinical education through course work, clinical experiences, research opportunities, and extracurricular activities.
Numerous RCS alumni have achieved highly visible leadership positions as researchers, professors, authors, clinic directors, and administrators. Every graduate and current students of CSD are automatically members of the CSD Society of Alumni and Friends. RCS faculty members are known internationally for their research and clinical expertise. The School has a solid commitment to international collaboration and ample external clinical research sites in the US and in several other countries.

Honors Tutorial College
The Honors Tutorial College program in Communication Sciences and Disorders offers exceptional students the opportunity to study the many aspects of communication sciences and disorders in one-on-one relationships with faculty members. Maximum opportunities will be afforded for the student to progress well beyond the materials found in conventional courses. The program starts in the spring semester of sophomore year. The program does not admit students entering as freshmen. Students apply for admission in the fall of sophomore year. Students are selected by the director of studies, faculty of the Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders, and the Honors Tutorial College on the basis of superior ability and sustained motivation.
Respite Volunteer Program
The Respite Volunteer Program is a free in-home relief and interaction-focused program. Volunteers provide a break for caregivers of adults with disabilities and other challenges by providing personalized care and social interaction in the home. Excursions outside the home may also be possible. Caregivers have the option of leaving or remaining with the volunteers. Adults living alone or in residential facilities are welcome to participate. Families and student volunteers benefit mutually. Volunteers are required to be enrolled as majors in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Ohio University. Aging and Gerontological Education Society (A.G.E.S.)
A.G.E.S., an undergraduate club open to students in the College of Health Sciences and Professions, allows students to be involved in volunteer work in local nursing homes and hospice centers. These opportunities will pertain to the interactions with the elderly community.

The purpose of this organization is to create and organize activities for typically developing children as well as children with disabilities. The organization aims to provide an inclusive learning experience for students and children.

National Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA)
NSSLHA is for students majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Activities include speakers, volunteer activities, and social activities.

Ohio University Sign Language Club
The purpose of this club is to bridge the gap between the hearing and deaf worlds by informally educating others on the usage and application of American Sign Language in everyday life.

This club is designed for those students who are interested in pursuing a career in this broad and rewarding field. Includes discussions of current issues and demonstrations performed by experienced therapists.
